Just across Rwanda's northern border, Uganda offers some of the same primate experiences – gorilla and chimpanzee tracking – alongside its own unique draws: the thunder of the Nile at Murchison Falls, tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and boat safaris along the Kazinga Channel. Often called the “Pearl of Africa” for its sheer diversity of landscapes packed into one country, Uganda makes an excellent extension for travelers wanting to see more of the Albertine Rift region.
